MEET THE INTERWOOLLABS MGMT. COMMITTEE

David Crowe graduated with a BSC (Wool and Pastoral Sciences) in 1987 and commenced work at the CSIRO Division of Wool Technology (Ryde) in December 1987. David commenced with AWTA Ltd in February 1999, as a Senior Research Officer, and has been involved in various research projects including colour measurement calibration, Laserscan calibration and water Laserscan and crimp frequency measurement. In October 2007, he commenced work at the AWTA Raw Wool Laboratory in Melbourne as the Technical Manager. His primary responsibility was the technical performance of the Melbourne Wool Testing Laboratory. In July 2009, he was appointed Research and Technical Manager with responsibility for the research direction and technical performance of the Raw Wool Division of AWTA Ltd. David currently holds a number of industry positions including: Member: Management Committee of Interwoollabs; Chairman: FAWO Technical Committe; Committee Member: ILRT Group Executive; Secretary: IWTO Contracts & Specifications Committee.  

Goetz Giebel since 2014 has worked as a consultant in the wool industry, co-operating internationally with a range of companies involved from raw material processing to garment making. He has been working for over 30 years in the wool textile industry and held several positions, initially at a wool trading company, as wool buyer for a top maker and was employed for 18 years with a worsted spinning mill as director for purchasing and in yarn sales. In May 2017 he became President of Interwoollabs and presently he is leading the trading department of G. Schneider S.p.A., Verrone in Italy. A wool comber specialized in fine wools and other animal fibres.

After gaining vast experience in the Textile industry and working on a variety of projects including work with Interwoollabs, Andrew was appointed Secretary General of the Association in May 2015.

Ronnie Danon was born in Istanbul, Turkey. He gained his BA degree majoring in accounting and international finance from Bosphorus University. He has worked in the wool industry with the Modiano group since 1979, initially as a sales person before moving on to trading. He helped to establish their Turkish subsidiary in 1992 and has been its Managing Director since then. Ronnie is also part of G Modiano Ltd’s trading team in London.

Faserinstitut Bremen e.V. (FIBRE) Bremen, Germany drieling@faserinstitut.de He started working atthe Fibre Institute in Bremen (Faserinstitut Bremen e.V. -FIBRE-) in 1996 and is member of FIBRE’s Executive Board since 2006. He is responsible for all cotton and natural fibre related activities of the institute, and for its standardization and harmonization activities. For cotton, Axel is member of the International Cotton Advisory Committee’s (ICAC) Task Force on Cotton Testing and Chairman of the International Textile Manufacturers Federation’s (ITMF) International Committee on Cotton Testing Methods. For wool, Axel is member of the INTERWOOLLABS Management Committee.  

Jim Chiang (also called Jiang Ming in Chinese Pinyin) is the business manager of Zhejiang New Chuwa Wool Co., Ltd. He stepped into Chinese wool textiles industry in February 1998 and served as business assistant, raw material purchase manager in a spinning mill in Ningbo. Since February 2005, he joined Zhejiang New Chuwa Wool Co., Ltd, a subsidiary of Zhejiang Xinao Textiles Inc. and took charge of overseas business development and sales. He gained great business relationship and experience in Japan, Southeast Asia, India, Turkey, Italy and other overseas countries for many years. He became a new member of Managing Committee of the International Association of Wool Textiles Laboratories in May 2018 during IWTO conference in Hong Kong.

Duane Knowles commenced his career in the wool industry in 1997 in a variety of technical and operational management roles at New Zealand Wool Testing Authority.  He was appointed as NZWTA Chief Executive in 2008.  He also serves on a number of industry bodies and has been actively involved in standards development with the International Wool Textile Organisation IWTO) for over 20 years.

Duane was appointed to the Management Committee of Interwoollabs in 2022.
